crabbing and shrimping
Posted by alaskanfishguides on Oct 08 2005
All of the waters in Cook Inlet, including Kachemak Bay (around Homer) are closed to the taking of crab (King, Tanner, Dungeness) and Shrimp.  Indeed all of these species are native to the southern Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay.  Resurrection Bay (Seward) is also closed for crab and shrimp.  Sorry... I remember the day that we could throw out some pots and enjoy the bounty of the sea.... even for king crab... but those days are gone.  I remember diving off of the Homer Spit and the Dungies were so thick, the bottom would come alive with thousands of crab.  I don't know what happened... over fished maybe?
