My father-in-law and I are looking for a reputable, honest, and very good fishing outfit to hook up with next summer/fall ('06).  My father-in-law has gone to AK and fished the Kodiak area with a guide 3 out of the past 4 years.  THe first year he said it was awesome, the 2nd year it was just "good", and the 3rd year he was disappointed.  He has gone with the same guide each time.  Before the 3rd trip, he wanted to make sure he booked it for the "best" time of the season.  The guide said "anytime is a good time".  Well, that isn't exactly true.  We understand that a guide wants his season booked as full as possible, but as a customer, it really sucks to be hitting the bottom of the bell curve.
We'd like to do more river fishing than anything else.  A float trip might be fun, but if there is a better trip out there where it is simply in the same place, that is fine too. Silvers, Rainbows, and any other fun fish to catch on a fly is what we are wanting to catch.
We do have a budget.  We'd like to keep it as close to $2k as possible - give/take a few hundred.  We are flying from Seattle, so airflight won't be as expensive as for others traveling a great distance.
So, please, any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
