silver/rainbow fishing

ryan_fishing,
First of all, sorry to hear about your experience. The typical fishing guide is more concerned about ensuring a great time and as much as possible catching success than filling the books; nevertheless there are exceptions to every rule.
I may be able to assist you with your trip if you are interested in fishing the Kenai River. During September (late) the second run of silvers are typically in the Kenai and the rainbow fishing is normally spectacular. During this time of year the river is not crowded and the weather is anybody's guess, but the leaves are turning and the scenery is very beautiful.
This year, though the silvers were late, the Kenai was producing some good 14-16 pounders with reports of rainbows "well" over 30". I caught a very nice rainbow this year on a flesh pattern. Beads or corkies are working great as well.
You can find more information on my web site http://www.alaskanfishguides.com and keep checking, I am in the process of updating the site with new photo's from this year (should be soon). If you would like more information, the contact information/email is on the website.
