I agree with Pastor Bob

FL-fisherman:

I second Pastor Bob's comment regarding canoes. Went fishing this year with a buddy at Redshirt Lake. We flipped our canoe twice - both times right near shore luckily. The worst part of the canoe experience though was how bad it hurt my back and hip flexors - trying to maintain a perfectly balanced posture all day. The rumor is the best position for paddling a canoe is to sit on your knees and paddle - but I already have achy knees!

On the other hand, I have a small inflatable pontoon boat that works great for rivers and lakes. I think you should look into going that route. They are much more stable and will allow you to pile on a lot of camping gear depending on how big of one you get.

Good luck. Merry christmas.
