I am not really a canoe hater, but....PLEASE don't buy one as your only Alaska watercraft. Use a good quality catamarran inflatable and you will be 1,000 x better suited for what you will encounter up here. This will cost you in the low 1000s of $ but will be worth every penny. Enjoy Alaska, I moved here last summer and will never leave. Kid
