Tossin' a throw bag 2 ya -

Well I'll just come out and say -- Take at least one multi-day guided or guide assisted trip w/ a guy that has all these toys mentioned... (hmmm? Who could that be? lol.) Anyway, row & paddle (try before you buy), be trained/practice/discover boating in Alaska benefiting from the safety net of a professional... then go out & acquire something to suit your requirements.  Just may end up being more than one boat tho’!  The other option is rent and try before you buy, however this will not facilitate the learning curve.

Just like anything else... it's not so much about the boat (suitability exclusion - like any equipment) than the captain of the craft!

Fitting your general description - I'd lean (pun intended) toward the forgiveness of an oar rigged Super Puma plus a little 4 stroke kicker or high thrust troller.
