Chum egg color?
Posted by twoatlow8 on Dec 07 2005
Can anyone tell me what color a chum salmon egg is? If possible, how about distinguishing between the fresh/dying/rotten stage colors. I have read that they are usually about 8mm in dia. Is this so, I only read it in one place? I am new to fly tying and am trying to duplicate it for a trip into the Brooks range during the first three weeks of Aug. What is the best style of pattern (chenile, glo-bug, bead, soft material, crystal egg)? Also, does anyone know if the chums that far north migrate during the same time the chums in southern/central AK? Thanks in advance!

Next: chum egg color, etc George Dec 10 2005
