July Pipe Dreams...
Posted by AlaskanAuthor on Dec 07 2005
Anyone who bases a high season trip out of Anchorage in July, and runs the roads, is going to run the crowds. It's not a combat zone everywhere, but where there is a highway near water with fish in it, expect many others.

If you are looking for less pressure, then check the AREAS button on the directory. Places like Wrangell and Kodiak offer up outstanding road fishing with considerably less crowd pressure.

Do your research and you'll reap the rewards; I put my wife on a drainage pipe on a Saturday full of sunshine that ran directly underneath a road in Alaska in mid-July. We parked the car and she walked 10 steps to the culvert. She caught dollies until she couldn't take it anymore. There was not another soul beside her the entire morning.

That spot was Lake Rose Tead. The road was the Pasagshack. The destination was Kodiak Island.

Now that's what I call an outstanding pipe dream...
