Properly painted beads will out fish a fly, any fly, 10-1. This, for rainbows and dollys, in my opinion and exp includes flesh flys and glo bugs ect. A properly pegged (1/2 inch or less from a small pinched barb hook) will not damage fish like a fully swallowed glo bug does.
7-9 mil , is fine, start with orange not red, macks beads are the best I have found for color. Use fingernail polish, something white so the bead looks milky when your done as it will resemble an egg that has been in the water a while. Usually two coats. Then use a nail hardner shine to protect your coat.
