Finally after a few years of looking and saving some cash, finally have a trip booked for my first trip to Alaska next August (2nd weekend). Myself, my father, and a few others will be staying with Alaska Wildernesss Outfitter in a floatiung cabin doing a do it yourself fishing trip.

The people at the lodge said that we will be in Simpson Bay, and that there are two forks I guess of some river that we could fish as well. Also that Sheep Bay is right next door. Anyone have any experience in any of these two places, good or bad.

The lodge we are staying in said they will provide bait and rods/reels for halibut. We will need to bring our own rod/reels for the salmon.

What type of tackle for Salmon. I have some trout rods, and a fly pole that I have never used (just learning) is a trout rod with 6-10 lb test good enough for Silvers. Or will I need something bigger.

One last thing, any books or magazines that you could recomend that i get an read up on would also be helpfull.

Cant wait this trip should be a trip of a lifetime.
