[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Wood-Tikchik Posted by Kid on Feb 10 2006 George, My brother and I did a float up that way several years ago, although it was a short one. We got Freshwater Adventures from D'ham (old Grumman Goose, tail number N7F) to drop us off at the west end of Lake Kulik and we floated down through Mikchalk to the beach on Beverly Lake near Justin Johns camp. It was a great trip, I caught the biggest grayling of my life, about 21" long, near where the river enters Mikchalk. We saw a wolverine and a 55" bull moose on that trip, too. We were in between salmon runs, but caught Dollies up to maybe 5 lbs. on spoons. I don't know if FW Adventures are still operating, but there should be at least one or two outfitters left up there who could drop a guy off for such a trip. The float all the way back to Aleknagik could take a couple of weeks if you were in no hurry, I would think. A few days rest and then a dropoff on the Togiak or the Goodnews for another week would sure be fun.
