[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] No worries Posted by B_M on Feb 12 2006 Twice a year I bring a ~50 lb box of fish down with me to visit family in California and once a year my parents bring fish down to Mexico and then bring Mexican fish back up. It's never a problem. If you get the fish frozen solidly in a deep freezer they will act as their own coolant. Yeah, they'll warm up a bit and maybe even start to thaw slightly, but spoilage won't be an issue if you pack them tightly. I usually wrap the frozen (vacuum packed) fish in tinfoil and then again in a few layers of newspaper. I then put it in either a waxed box, a foam fish box, or a cooler and send it on it's way. I've also wrapped it in newspaper and put it right in my suitcase. If your total trip time will be 12 hours or less you should be fine. Really.
