My biggest sport-caught halibut was 144 lb. - right off the end of Montague Island. It came up to the surface like it was a 40 pounder, but once it saw the surface that changed...it was another 30 minutes before I saw that fish again!

I also commercially fish halibut, so that's a different story. We've caught a few that are pushing 300...but probably not quite there.
