[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] Stellar day Posted by spoiled one on Feb 14 2006 Several years ago I was fishing out of the Anchor river with a buddy . We were fishing on the other side of Cook Inlet along a drop in about 120'. We had caught 5 or 6 spiny tail dog fish and decide that we would pullu anchor and move if we caught another. The next fish was a 50 pounder. I then caught a 179 and next time down hooked the big one. It ended up weighing 281lbs. I have a cool photo somewhere of me laying next to it. I am just shy of 6'6" and the fish was longer. These two fish fed my brother's wedding rehearsel dinner. This past summer I caught one out in PWS while jigging for rock fish with a salmon rod and a buzz bomb. It went 208 lbs. Awesome fight! The drag on that avent reel is amazing. I highly recomment it. On the way back to Whittier, I hit a submerged chunk of drift wood and lost a lower unit. I limped back to the harbor under darkness, but the smile never left my face. Lower units are replaceable, memories like that don't happen every day. Previous: Halibut AKdutch Feb 15 2006 Next: Size Snowwolfe Feb 14 2006 Message Thread:
