Bleeding
Posted by B_M on Mar 07 2006
Rob - I like your idea, but doesn't that make bleeding the shark less effective?  Everything I've read about shark fishing states that you MUST bleed them right away if you want good tasting meat.  Once they've drowned the heart won't be beating any more, and thus the blood won't be pushed out of the body through the veins as efficiently.  I like to bleed my fish while they're still alive, as the heart pumps all the blood out of the tissues.  Wouldn't drowning them first prevent a good bleeding?

Thanks to everyone for the tips, though.  I've seen these sharks out in PWS many times and have always wanted to catch one.  Maybe not this summer, but I'm definately going to give it a shot at some point.

-Brian
