Line Choice
Posted by BlueMoose on Mar 07 2006
Ande, Triline, Mustad "Believe it or not", Maximum, Fire Line, Spider Line So many choices.

I have fished Trilne and Maximum for 20 years 15-17 LBS will do fine.
If your fishing in mainly rocky areas the maximum has more abrasion resistance and less flex then Triline.

If Pig & Jig or flip casting flies use the Maximum if your casting distances with spinners go with Triline.

I stay completely away from any zero tolerance lines especial Kevlar they tend to tear up your guides over time and or break your rod depending on your aggressiveness on a snag or big fish.

This year I ran Mustad line on 6 rods during King Season on the Gulkana (Yes) "old dogs can learn new tricks" Very suprised in its performance over time and in fact was very difficult to break off even at 17 LBS for Kings. I can honest say we lost no fish because of line failure.

Best Wishes and Tight Lines!
