From what I've gathered, it takes more than "dumb luck" and honest effort to responsibly fish for shark. There are significant risks to the fisherman/fisherperson, the fish, the gear & tackle and crew. Additionally, I've gathered that sharks are more prevalent in eastern PWS, instead of the western side. And that it takes more than chumming & tossing over a baitfish on a large hook to get a good chance of a hook-up. I don’t plan pursue this until I am confident of the risks & methods.

That said, although I’m sure a charter boat would be a prudent way to figure this out, I would rather spend the money for fuel & gear in my own boat and hook up with another boat doing the same thing. If anyone has plans to fish for shark out of Whittier this year, and would like a tag-along, send me an e-mail.
