I was talking driving times of 2-4 hours.  Saltwater fishing from Anchorage is pretty much a weekend affair.  Drive down Friday night or early Saturday morning, and allow yourself two days to fish.

There are alot of lakes around anchorage though, so you can keep a canoe, kayak or small raft in your vehicle and be fising for rainbows and dolly varden or pike in the evenings.  Doesn't get dark until around midnight in the peak of the summer so plenty of fishing time in the evening.

There are also the Kamakaze trips to the Kenai for Sockeye salmon.  You motor down after work, about a 2 hour drive, fish until midnight from the banks, motor back, and drag your butt into work the next day.
