cutting holes

I have used a long screw driver and hammer. Unfornunately my screw driver became stuck in the ice. I have seen the ice pick tools that are used to make a hole in the ice, but I could only hang on the ice for so long. IMHO the best thing to do would be to buy the cheapest hand powered ice auger you can find. I bought one at WalMart a couple of years ago for $60.
