Good reel
Posted by bradb1169 on Mar 25 2006
I have been using the Shamino Tekota for a few years and it works great for fishing from boats. It holds a good bit of 30-40 lb test line. Big oversized handle and level wind does the job good. Excellent drag too. They cost about 150-170 dollars. If your looking to fish from shore or for smaller salmon like the reds go with a Abu or a Corsair. The really big Kings tend to tear up the cheaper reels. I defenately don't use spining reels (aka coffee grinders) because of the drag sys and the fact that your line has a pressure point right after comming off the spool. All in all it really depends if you fishing from a boat or shore. To be safe you might want to buy both. Hope this helps.
