Having had an unfortunate bout with Giardia two years ago, i wouldn't even THINK of letting the meat come in contact with Lake or River water. Nothing is 100% sure.   Biologist is ABSOLUTLY CORRECT - and I have NO IDEA how i contracted it.  I certainly wasn't drinking untreated water - but i did contract it whilst Moose Hunting and so one just has to "assume" i got that 1 Rouge Cell that made it in and wreaked havoc on me through some other kind of Median.  I hauled my own water to camp and NEVER drank any water from the river.  The only thing the Doctor could come up with was Fishing line cut with Teeth, or Spray from the river getting on my lips or hands and then wiping my nose or somthing, and ya know - it dont really matter how i got it other than i did.  

you do NOT want to mess Giardia - trust me.  You cant go anywhere, do anything, even sleep.  It will embarrase you like nothing you have ever seen, and leave you wimpering like a puppy in the corner for something, anything to stop the process that the bug started.

  



You get it once and you will be singing a total different tune the rest of your life.
