1 Week in August to Hunti Ptarmigan in Alaska

I've got one week in August to hunt ptarmigan in Alaska before i have to go to school. The posts i've read on the website talk about late season birds. Does anyone have any advice on where my bird dog and i can go in August?
We're going to start in Anchorage, rent a truck and camp if necessary.
