Posted by ultra mag on Apr 06 2005 In preparing for my solo sheep possible Grizz hunt into the Brooks the question has come up about my choice of firearm. My options are a 300 WIN. MAG. shooting either 180 grain Federal power shocks or 200 grain federal vital shock (trophy bonded bear claw), or take the 338 Rem. ultra mag. shooting 250 grain swift A frames. Obviously there are many factors here but mainly considering the diference in dead weight, and the difference in energy knock down power considering the possible chance at a Barren ground arctic Grizzly. I might add that I do feel a bit more comfortable shooting the 300 mainly because of first hand experience and recoil. But Im a confident shot with both within my boundries. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about this idea. Any first hand experiences with Grizzlies in the brooks? Next: 300 WSM alaska bush man Apr 07 2005 Message Thread:
