[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] predator control Posted by Sollybug on Apr 07 2005 The past listings on the brown bear baiting show that most guys on this website know the need for predator control, but ADFG needs to do a better job of explaining their reasoning to educate the public. For instance, its pretty sad that we only harvest 6000 moose a year in Alaska out of a population of under 100,000 when Sweden harvests 100,000 moose out of 450,000 with no predators to compete with and habitat restoration programs. We could really improve our hunting with some better public education. I think we need more predator control here on the Kenai. I have heard reports of guys baiting black bear out Swanson River and instead getting up to 10 Brownies at their sites and last winter I was finding wolf kill sites in the city limits of Kenai.
