I am looking for some input regarding a youth caliber for my 11 yr old son.  We will be hunting caribou this fall but want to graduate up to black bears and moose next year.
I have settled on the Remington Model 7 and am looking hard at the .308.  I have also considered the 7mm-08 but feel my heavier bullet selection with the .308 will benefit us for moose.  
I need to consider recoil also.  He is a small framed guy but has done some shooting.
Any suggestions?  Looking for some of the experience out there that has already traveled this same road.
