Recoil was really the deciding factor for me. The 7mm-08 has a really plush recoil pad on it which I don't think the .308 has. As far as bullet selection, the 7mm goes up to 140 grain. That's perhaps a little light for moose, but with my situation I know that I'll always be there backing up my wife. It's enough gun to take a moose with a well-placed shot, though.
