Doing the same thing this year
Posted by luv2angle on Apr 24 2005
My son is new to shooting this past year. I am going to take him Black bear hunting this year and Caribou hunting.  Next year he will be going with me for moose.  He is turning 12, and I have gone a little smaller with a 270. It will kill all of those animals with a good shot.  I was just concerned with him getting nervous shooting a gun with to much recoil. He has shot the 270 accurately at 100 yards and has had no problems with recoil.  In a couple of years, we will be moving up to a 30 caliber.  If your son can handle it, it will be on less rifle you have to buy.  Good luck
