To shoot or not too.
Posted by BIG 27 on Oct 01 2005
My only question was it necessary to shoot the bear. Did you fire a warning shot?I am a huge outdoorsman and have several grizzly encounters under my belt and I think 9/10 times you can discourage the bear from being a threat without taking its live or wounding it. Unless of course you are hunting bear.

My point being their are way to many people who don't use an escalation of force they use deadly means first which is not fair for the bear.In Alaska we are blessed to truly live in untamed bush were we are not always on top of the food chain If you go out with less than .30 caliber rifle you are taking a gamble and of course inhumane to shoot large bears with such a small caliber.
