Yes, there are grizz in the valley and on the mountains but there are also plenty of black bears too. 2 years ago a friend of my wife was hunting back in there and found a 50"+ bull moose that was killed and partially eaten by a grizz near the pass, i say this not to scare you but to let you know that they are in there, i'm sure this time of year their eating berries too.
