Some buddies of mine had some close encounters of the furry kind. There was never any problems. I think the bears are used to the hikers going in and out. I have seen lots of bears around twin falls area. Try sitting in the river bed up against a log and glassing. Look on both sides of the river and be prepared to cross the river if you see a bear on the south side. Country is thick with alders so keep your eyes open.
