[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] dogs as a bear "defense" in camp Posted by Ripface on Oct 08 2005 What are your opinions on bringing dogs into bush camps with you to act as a warning for bears approaching your camp? Do you think they would attract bears with their barking and racket and smell? Do you think dogs would be a good idea, indicating to you that a bear would be approaching your tent before you may be able to sense it (I know I'm a hard sleeper)? I suspect they wouldn't be a good idea for hunting trips per say, but I'm just thinking they would wake me up in time and I wouldn't have to put up these circuits around camp to keep bears out.
