dogs as a bear "defense" in camp
Posted by Ripface on Oct 08 2005
What are your opinions on bringing dogs into bush camps with you to act as a warning for bears approaching your camp?  Do you think they would attract bears with their barking and racket and smell?  Do you think dogs would be a good idea, indicating to you that a bear would be approaching your tent before you may be able to sense it (I know I'm a hard sleeper)?  I suspect they wouldn't be a good idea for hunting trips per say, but I'm just thinking they would wake me up in time and I wouldn't have to put up these circuits around camp to keep bears out.  They could always stay in camp while you're out hunting.  My camps would be more based on fishing though.
