Globalstar coverage
Posted by acadinak on Oct 08 2005
First, I must admit up front I have some involvement with the Globalstar products. That said, I can tell you that Globalstar is currently building a new Gateway in Wasilla, AK. That should come on-line next summer or fall. With the new gateway, coverage in Alaska will be something like 95% or better. The principle is both the phone and the gateway must be line-of-site to a satellite, and that has eben tough with the gateways in the lower 48. With a gateway up here, they should cover most of the state pretty well. I suggest folks watch for an announcement of the new gateway operating next summer, and try them again.
