atv access?
Posted by calndux on Oct 11 2005
I can see snowmachine access from the haul road but not atvs unless it is in a very limited and enforced area.  Just a side note...I am a big boy who walks in for moose and sheep...no atv..wish I had on for somethings, but not hunting in all areas..I do enjoy the walk in areas, because it eliminates alot of hunters..in-shape and out of shape..packing is work...I do think we should pull together as hunters to protect our selfs from outside interest.  With that said, certain groups should be happy with what access they have (truest from both sides).  Just my thoughts...I do know the troopers don't enforce the atv ban in certain areas, because I have seen atvs in walk in areas that I hunt...and what about the salmon streams that are crossed by atvs, track machines, and buggies...Is that illegal?  Is it enforced?  If the troopers enforced these people would be even more restricked...So, before we push too far...consider if the enviro's and peta's of the world got on F&G and the troopers buts and made them enforce the stream thing...As far as I know that would eliminate lots of motorized access to hunting areas.  Sorry, but my thoughts...I love to hunt, not in the best shape, not the best hunter, but I want to be able to continue to hunt and I want my kid to be able to hunt, there is a place for atvs and there are places that shouold not be for atvs.
