A couple of questions...
Posted by Michael Strahan on Oct 17 2005
Shawn,

I'm somewhat troubled about your meat situation.  Six days in the field, minus the drop-off day when you couldn't hunt and the take-out day when you probably didn't hunt leaves four days to hunt.  Yet you lost HALF of your meat?  You guys shot eight caribou and lost four to spoilage?  I have no way of knowing how the meat was cared for in the field and have to wonder about that; I've never heard of anyone losing meat in the field that fast.  Were some of the animals in the rut and the meat inedible because of that?  Was the meat hauled out of the field or left behind?  From your post it appears that your charter only hauled out the "good" meat and the rest was left behind.  Did you bring out all the antlers and capes?

There's nothing personal in this at all, I'm just wondering how something like this could happen.

-Mike
