Welcome to ODD, Shawn
Posted by martentrapper on Oct 18 2005
As you can see, the ethics police are ever present on ODD. Hope they don't scare you off. You posted some good, helpful info here. As one who has hunted unit 23 regularly, and has seen how quickly rainfall can raise the water levels there, your story sounds fine to me. I certainly don't feel you should risk your life crossing high water to salvage meat. I'm willing to bet your not the only hunters who have shot an animal or 2 late afternoon and had to finish the skinning/butchering, or retrieve the meat the next day. I'm also familiar with how quickly the ravens home in on kills and what they can do if someone isn't close by to keep them off.
Hopefully you will stick around but learn to edit your posts so those who wish to elevate themselves by putting down another don't have ammo to shoot at you.
I bet that was some very good caribou meat and I bet your just as disgusted with the outcome as the rest of guys who apparently live in a perfect world.
