Not assumption..FACT
Posted by AlaskaHippie on Oct 18 2005
Sorry to disagree here Jason, but Shawn came here and told us his story.  Even taking his story at face value and with a generous attitude it still smacks of waste.

There are a LOT of people who do not post on this site and use it as an information source.  I would hate to think that someone planning a trip up here to would read Shawns post and take away the impression that meat salvage isn't necessity.  If people don't come down hard on waste than it begins to seem acceptable to those who wouldn't know otherwise.  Some of the posts (mine included) are harsh yes.  But not nearly as harsh as it would be face to face had I come across 3 rotting carcasses with nothing removed but the antlers and had followed the trail back to the offending parties camp.

I am assuming nothing here.  By his own admission this "hunter" and his buddies dropped too many animals at once without the means to get the meat back to camp and properly cared for.  Dropping 6 boo right next to your camp would be a chore unto itself, much less doing it across a river with a storm approaching (notice he never states the distance from camp? Wonder why?).  Sorry, as I've stated elsewhere I have ZERO use for excuses, ESPECIALLY when the Antlers come out, but the meat rots.

Sorry that you didn't get your bear. I saw your earlier post regarding the tent problems you had, real bummer I am sure.
But you DID get to spend time in a part of the world many people dream of, and that which doesn't kill ya..well you know the rest.
Maybe Shawn and Co. could take a lesson there.  Had they been more concerned with getting quality over quantity this discussion wouldn't be taking place.
