wanton waste...but legal!
Posted by homerdave on Oct 19 2005
you shoot a caribou bull. he is disgustingly rutty and totally inedible. you salvage all the meat and fill out a transfer of possession form turning the meat over to your air taxi for donation in town.
nobody will take it , and it is taken to the dump where even the bears are fenced out.
true story, and happens all the time.  trophy caribou are often rutty after about the third week of september, and a rutty caribou is as nasty as it gets.

so, is this okay?

as a guide this is an issue that makes me very uncomfortable,  and i don't like seeing it happen.

i seriously think that a regulation closing the taking of bull caribou during the rut would be a good  proposal, say from the end of september  (or earlier) to  november 15th or so.

Next: no closure AkHunter45 Oct 20 2005
