wasteful?
Posted by fullkurl on Oct 20 2005
The caribou is far too noble an animal and too precious a resource to shoot merely for a set of antlers. I'm always fascinated by these nomidic, tough animals.   "Rangifer Terrandus" what a cool name too!

One can find magnificent sheds all over the place and save the work if he really wants antlers. There is so much great meat on a caribou for the hunter willing to wait until the rut is over. Seems like a huge waste, otherwise.
We left a huge rack out on the tundra this year, antlers just dont taste as good as the meat anymore!  :D
