[ Return to Contents | Post a Reply | Post a new message ] no closure Posted by AkHunter45 on Oct 20 2005 I don't think it's necessary to close the hunting season for caribou during the rut. If hunters can't make a good judgement call about shooting a bull in the rut, then they have to deal with the consequences. Why take the privilege away from other hunters because a few others can't make a smart decision. I personally won't hunt them after the 2-3rd week of September so i don't have the problem of dealing with nasty rut tainted meat. I've also hunted deer during the rut and have changed the timeframe of when i would hunt them, though rutted deer meat is in no way as bad as caribou, i still prefer them before the rut. If i can make these kind of decisions then why can't everyone else? Closing the season isn't the answer. Previous: wanton waste...but legal! homerdave Oct 19 2005 Next: Covering the Taste?
