I知 sure a lot has to do with knowing the area, some rams will never be legal by the FULL CURL definition, but will be by age.  If you hunt an area long enough I知 sure you are able to spot a legal ram by looking at the horns.  And I知 sure there are sheep areas where counting rings is relatively easy.  I on the other had can not do that, I can稚 take the chance because I don稚 know the area well enough.  I知 sure I have passed legal rams because of inexperience.   I guess that痴 one good reason to hire a guide
