Some more info would be helpful. What are you going to use them for primarily? I wouldn't want to carry a pair of 50's into the mountains. Image stabilizing binos are great for boat usage. I agree 12x is hard to hold steady. The 12x with tripod combo doesn't seem to be very popular in AK, mostly an Arizona thing. You'll get lots of opinions but everyone's eyes are different. FWIW I use Leica Trinivid 8x42. Great glass, but pretty heavy since I mostly do mountain hunting.
