Dollar Bill Test and different view
Posted by kaboku68 on Oct 24 2005
I went to Beaver Sports this weekend. They don't have every good brand of bino but they had three that I wanted to compare-(1) Leica 12X50 Ultravids, 2) Zeiss 8X40 Victorys; and 3) Nikon  10X42 SE Porros-that I wanted to compare and they let me do a dollar bill test.
I took the dollar bill and pinned to the opposite wall near back.
Leicas- The color was good and the details were great.
At 26 feet from case I could read secretary of treasury with Leicas.
They focused easier and were easily the most durable binocular. The magnification did produce a little shake but not much. They are a pretty light binocular. They were 1599.00/
Nikons- Definitely second. I could see the secretary of treasury at 25 ft. Colors were more netural. It took longer to focus. They are not waterproof but are a very nice binocular for 799.00.
Zeiss- These victorys were weird. They seemed like they were out of alignment. Magnification was 8X40 but I had to go to 20 feet to make out secretary of treasury. They were not comfortable and I was disappointed with them. I have used zeiss 10X40 and found them excellent and would choose those over the victorys right away. The zeiss were 949.00.

I guess I will look for Leicas and start saving.
