I know a few people who made similiar mistakes and fessed up. One pair of guys thought they were in an area open to moose hunting, but were not. they fessed up. I don't think anyone I know who fessed up and also salvaged meat lost any hunting priviledges, or had any equipment confiscated. The law and the courts want folks to be honest. They have an interest in not scaring guys like you off.
