Kodiak has roughly 60,000 deer.  Approx 6,000 get harvested every year.  The northwest side of the Island continues to improve too, after the severe winters of the nineties-and the over-foraging that had happened prior to that.

For the finest Blacktail hunting anywhere, the Southwest side of Kodiak is the ticket.  You will see unbelievable numbers of bucks, and many large ones.
