Weather Patterns
Posted by Akres on Nov 08 2005
One thing I have learned about the drive, is that if you leave out of here in the middle of a storm, or shortly thereafter, you will follow it all the way down, especially on the Cassiar. Seems as though the jet streams and weather patterns follow the same path. If you are not on a schedule, time your departure after two or three days of good weather here, and you will have clear sailing most of the way. You might hit a few isolated storms, but you will avoid a big one. I traveled in four wheel drive most of the way down the Cassiar, once, because I followed the storm path, ahead of the plows, not real fun.
If you are caught in a storm, wait until noon or so, and let some of the traffic beat the roads clean. Patience is the order of the day. Have fun.
