I had a significant failure with a pair of Grand Slams. After two days of drizzle and creeks in the Chugach, my ankle support was gone and I had to rely on my hiking staff to help my ankles. They are now relegated to upland bird hunting. I used Meindl AK. Hunters on the two return trips to the same Mts.. Perfect support after miles of travel and wet conditions. I think you will see pros and cons for both brands but I think the Meindls and Lowas are true sheep hunting boots. My AK. guide will vouch if he sees this post and cares to reply. Good luck!
