what i need in a stand

Tony,
I have never hunted out of a tree stand, or even sat in a stand. I am going to do a bait station in the spring. I plan on puting my stands up at the begining of the baiting season, and leaving them up the entire time, from April 15th until June 15th. My dad is coming up from California to hunt over the station with me in May, so i need a stand for each of us. I am 6'1", 200 pounds, and my dad is about the same.
I have looked at quite a few stands online, as well as what they have in stock at the sportsmans warehouse, which wasn't too impressive. We are going to be archery hunting out of the stands, so room to stand on the platform is important, and a somewhat comfortable seat would be a nice thing to have.
I am kind of leaning toward a ladder stand, i have heard from a few people that they are a little more sturdy, but the guys i talked to didn't seem to know a whole lot either. The place i am going to set up my bait station is accessible by ATV, so getting them to the spot isn't an issue. Thank you for the advice.
