I flew back to Portland from Fairbanks in late September.  The folks at Alaska Air seemed unusually unfriendly for some reason.  Due to that and the fact that I like to watch what goes on when they check my gun case, I watched the activities in the back room for a bit.  There was quite a bit of activity and someone's bags were being inspected closely.  After a bit, one of the TSA people came out of the room with an arm full of items...  there was an older single burner white gas stove (Peak 1), multiple fuel bottles, small gas lantern, a huge bag loose matches and something else that I couldn't figure out.  I would imagine that the stove and lantern still had fuel in the tanks.  Someone got home with far fewer items than they expected.  Pays to know the rules.
