I've had both....

the iridium and globalstar. I've been using the globalstar for the last five years i think, but it was right after iridium went down.

I don't understand the statement about coverage issues with globalstar, as I've used mine from the north side of the brooks to cold bay, with very few problems. Last August I was standing right next to someone with the iridium on the north side of the brooks. I made a call and he couldn't get a signal, but I'm sure that goes both ways.

The globalstar is so much cheaper to use than iridium. I got rid of my cell phone and just use my globalstar phone. I must say though, that in town it doesn't work great sometimes with abunch of buildings around.

I have two batteries for my phone, and have been out in the bush for up to a month at a time. I've never worn out the second battery, and have used one for up to three weeks, making calls daily.
