TSA will require you to unlock the guncase for their inspection, however, you should be present for this and lock the case after inspection with only you retaining a key for those locks.

TSA will not keep a key and the airline should not (against regs) load an unlocked guncase to an airplane.

Print airline and TSA regs and have them with you at the airport.  It helps clear up any misconceptions airline or TSA personnel may have with their own regulations or policies.
